My point in sharing this?
When I'm looking at the Jake Butcher Mansion:
I'm not looking for horse property - The HOA won't allow it.
I'm not looking for acres of privacy - It's in a subdivision.
I'm not looking for top-of-the line finishes - The house is dated with '70s and 80's decor.
I'm not looking for river access - A railroad runs in front of the water and the land has been subdivided to provide for other homes.
I'm not looking for space to park a motor home or boat - The HOA won't allow it.
I'm not looking for a home in which to entertain - any of these homes will do and at far less cost and for far less maintenance.
Are the schools better in Clinton than the surrounding areas? No
Is the crime rate in Clinton lower than surrounding areas? No
Are surrounding homes within the same economic strata as the Butcher Mansion? No
Are property taxes lower in Clinton? No, in fact they're higher
So, why do I want the Butcher Mansion?
Quite simply, the home was imprinted upon me when I was four years old. I'm tied to it, it challenges me.
Are there any other buyers out there willing to take it on? Maybe.
Will they survive the challenges the home presents? I doubt it.
